REBEL XD's ACTIVATED part 1: Origins of a Rap Acrobat

(VERSE 1)

Activate... Ac, Activated...

Yo It all started back when I was like age 11
Or maybe a little bit closer to my 8th grade graduation
So I wanna say some time in 1987
That marked the stage and setting
Of them days that I'd faithfully get into - rap
When me and my friend made that bet and - in fact

I kept laughing at him and I had to ask him
Cause he was a huge LL Cool Jay fan
And I said yeah , LL's cold as hell
But how could you really expect
That no one else could excel on a track
And snap and come off just as bad while rappin'?
Though it was true - Cool Jay did rock them bells
But my dude was all like "hell yeah"!
"now you tell me who can do it better than L L"
So than I just paused for a second
Then I looked up at him and then I said - WELLLLL! *Chuck D*

Maybe with a little bit of giving time
Maybe even a nigga like me could spit a rhyme
And get a little shine and kick the lines
That could blow nigga's and bitches minds
Like it's a nine that combined with some kind of a -?-
"hmmmm, combined with some kind of a what"?

I don't know cause at that time I couldn't rhyme like how I do now
With these cool styles that's too wild but knew I'll
Be able to do it if I tried but I'd have to strip my pride
And get dignified just to try it
But I didn't mind so I'm finna get to trying to spit them rhymes
Yo was this a sign or just me looking blind? as My am---

Bition sparked while I envisioned art
Even with all the missing parts and all the hidden thoughts
That kept me gettin' lost , stuck, flipped and tossed
And then my shit would pause
And it would be like - MISSION HALT!-
And it would piss me off, but still I kicked and fought
Because it was taught, that a kid must crawl
Before they get to walk And after how big I talked
There's no getting off, yo and it's my fault
I felt like a victim caught up in some prison vault
Where I would sit and stalk up in a pit of dark
But with a gifted heart, that if I could just get to spark
Then I could get lit like stars then I could spit the bars
That'll hit and lift to mars but first it must start
But it was just too hard, but it was them forbidden cards
That I would disregard
As a rookie poet, looking onward and pushing forward
To get in charge, just to switch the odds

Into my favor but maybe this task that I had took on
Was just just too great for me to make it
Because days and days would past and the pads that I had
Had nothing but trash, crap and massive chicken scratch on paper
I mean honestly, because obviously
And when I say this I think that you all will agree
That since I use to write poems in the past
It should be easy to write raps
I mean c'mon man, how hard could this be?

Sure in the past, I wrote a few poems in class
But that ain't quite the same as performing raps
Or matching lyrics up on a track
But still I kept a pen in my jacket
For trying to brain storm on pads
And that became the norm in fact
I saw many a days, nights, afternoons, dawns and mornings pass
When trying to create them raps had my on my back
But I had to push pass that
Because becoming a rap master
Was a task that I had sworn to grasp
So some day they may hear me on the phonograph
My friend tried to warn my ass, but as they laughed at me
Actually I had to be the last one who was gonna taunt and laugh
So I just stayed on the path and I walked it
Til I was up on my last legs up until the last days
That I almost gave up and said fuck it
Because it was buggin' me but then suddenly
Up and in a moments flash
After weeks of torture and self torment passed
As fast as a lightening bolt something had jolted in me
That ultimately resulted in my thoughts
Coming across without force
Then and finally, my focus started to form at last
And no longer lying dormant as -
The paper that I wrote on no longer had to get torn and slashed
From the tablet to go in the trash
Cause then things that I wrote became mo dope shit
That I could just throw in my stash

And add to my porfollio/ slash audio capture
Because I had a small tape reocrder so that I
Could record my voice and play it back fa
Myself to see how I sounded
When I was performing flows after that I rapped
While I tried to master the craft but at least I was avergae at last
But I still couldn't dash from path
Because I still feel like I had a whole lot of bad ass status to grasp

(Break)
Now that I'm in my prime and I'm flying high
Will I go low? oh no ---
My massive thought processes are - CALCULATED
While my brain sustains and remain - CALIBRATED
I aim to stay great in anything - RAP RELATED
Every since the day that I became _ ACTIVATED

(VERSE 2)

I went from bad to average to pretty good and decent
But I still can't over look the reason
MC's in the past that helped to blast me into master status
As I took from their teachings
And learned where to put the pieces, now peep this

Through my 8th grade vacation BREAK
I would make raps and create on a daily BASE
But I can't forget that day that I had made a GREAT
Finding of that radio station that played them GREAT
Rappers that made some of my favorite TAPES
And they helped to create me, that's something that's safe to SAY
They helped to take my creations straight to second BASE
And the name of that radio station's W-H-P-K

And it was amazing, cause back then
I didn't even know that so many dope rappers existed
So through each show's rappin transmission
I'd sit back and I'd listen
In fact I would get mad if I missed it

Cause I was still developing and with this source
It's kind of like I can behold and carry a new force
And of course I'm a Chi Town but guy but I can't lie
Cause I was taught hip hop through the golden era of new york

In fact, yo let's play a game
While spit a rap in a pattern of one of my teachers
And before I can reach the end
If you can tell where style came from before I can finish
Then just say the name

As I --- aim to tame the lames and reign to brang some pain
In major ways to entertain so blame the game
I came to gain my claim to fame and an orangutang can't hang with * (ohhh dang!) yeah, his name is KANE
Man, and he changed my brain
In so many ways that I can't explain

Showed me that I could flip flows, snap and attack on tracks
With rhymes that latching back to back with raps
That's stacked and packed and matched
Attached and that's the fact
Of how I started to becoming a rap acrobat and after that

Yo I heard this dude that's bad and I was like "ooh wee, jack"
"who is that?!?!" , dude, he snapped
Man, this dude is cool, so cool in fact
That his name is Kool G Rap

And you had me to flip my script a bit to get and capture
That gift of gab you got that I had to master
So I switch my tactics, did my practice
And kicked the type of raps you spit, to get cha - GOT CHA!

Adapted from G rap, mad tactics he got
And I peeped that speed that he packed
I need that, so please don't be mad
Be glad and relax, or I'll make these weak whack
Crack MC's relapse - got 3 bags

Of leaf that in front of me
While I chief and leave a brief summery
About how I seek to come to be, one of thee
Deepest thinking MC's that people, are ever gonna see

So I'll just close this chapter
For now but I'll back ta show more bout have my road and path ta
Becoming a pro, the rapper that showed the mass
How you can go so fast from grass hopper
To growing to a GOLDEN MASTER!
